Benefits of Virtual Therapy

Convenience and Access
Let’s meet where you’re at!
Access your own comforts and surroundings…secure a confidential nook, or perhaps a park or your parked car, settle in your couch, in your cozy clothes, fetch your go-to soothing items (tea, stress ball, throw pillow, doodle book, scented candle, an indulgent support pet to pat).
Online therapy honours that we are not all able-bodied and mobile- you can tend to an achy body or show up to session if under the weather without risk to others, without having to pay a cancellation fee, and with your personal care items on standby… don’t have a car, wish to save on gas price, wish to reduce your carbon footprint or too anxious to drive through those icy winter storms? Wish to Avoid long bus rides or riding your bike across those potholes? Live in the country?
Save time and energy with access to connect for a 1hr session without the travel hassle.
Child care- I see lots of couples and solo parents who can put their little ones to bed and show up online 5 minutes later without hiring a babysitter (provided sleepy time lullabies and stories worked their magic).
Real time processing!
- sharing art, mementos, and pictures,
- introduction to family members (partners, fur or human babies, iguanas)
- we can make that anxious-laden call together or look up a resource or leisure guide in the moment together
…how immediate, spontaneous, sacred, and enriching these show-and-tells and actionable steps in company can be!
Teary-faced awkward exits no more!
Tears are a healthy response to processing and release in the art of allowing and feeling- if we happen to open up those floodgates, part of our work will be to practice settling soothing and sometimes in tandem- the art of containment. Online therapy offers that additional space to linger or journal post-session or continue to employ any additional soothing practices without an abrupt transition to clear out for the next client entering and without transitioning to a public space.
What you need:
- a phone or computer with internet or data.
- home to be a safe space to speak freely or access to a private place
The online platforms are easy to navigate, even for those who would not identify as tech savvy!
In over 4 years of practicing online, as prompted by the pandemic, there have been only a few rare instances of tech glitches that interrupt our flow -clients commonly report they forget we’re online!
I’m using a licensed version of Zoom and find it’s simple and easily downloaded to computers or phones -and free for you.

What benefits have you found with online therapy?
I get it. Online is not for everyone. It may not even be suitable for your specific presenting struggles. My intention is to show some convenient and therapeutic benefits that match my style of services. If after reading these, remote therapy still doesn’t suit you -go with that! I’m a huge proponent of choice! I have a host of in-person practitioners I can refer you to in your continued search.
